Should we change the way we teach younger students about the history of the United States? Explain.
I think we should change the way we teach younger students about the history of the united states because younger students grow up learning one thing that in their mind is right of what happened in history but is actually completly wrong and they dont find out that they are wrong until they get into a higher level of class and find out that all they know isnt exactly true.I think we should not exactly tell younger kids of the killing and uterlly horrible parts of history right of the bat but we shouldnt make them think that our history is what it isnt.I think we should get them use to not every part of history was fine and dandy so they at least know that things other then love and friendship did go on in history. When I was in elementary school I was taught in history that the Pilgrims came to Plymouth and lived a happy and prosperive life with the Native Amercians helping them out and no conflicts were ever incountered and everyone was happy. I was taught that the Natives and the Pilgrims lived happy and had thanksgiving and loved eachother not that the Natives died of diseases because of the Pilgrims, that the Pilgrims wore nice clothes and they had no difficulties in their new land not that they were unprepared for winter and wore nothing near nice clothing. Im an examle of when I was a younger student then I am now being taught the bright, false side of history because I was young.I think young students should know the basic at first and build on what they know not be told a lie and then having to scrap everything they knew growing up in order to learn the real truth when it came time.
