Steriotypes...steriotypes are so widely known by so many people around the world because they have probably existed since the beggining of time, unfortunenatly. Stereotypes are generalizations, or assumptions, that people make about the characteristics of all members of a group, based on an image (often wrong) about what people in that group. For instance I have hispanic features so people immediatly assume i speak Spanish which is wrong I speak English ,but because I look hispanic to others they immediatly conclude I speak the language.Thats a small steriotype.
A bigger steriotype: during slavery ,all plantations in the south had 200 slaves or more, these slaves made baby slaves for this gigantic plantation while picking cotton or working on something hard and exhausinting and being fored which the labor part is probably true most likely a definite. but the whole plantation owned hundreds upon hundreds of slaves prospering off their labor is not true. most plantations in the south maybe had tops four or five slaves that would most likely would end up mating and making more baby slaves to grow up and work also once their parents are gone.
Another steriotype is that all plantation owners looked like southern pimps with there nice white suit and pimped out cane which is most likely to be untrue.the plantation owner i can bet did not look like he was superfly he owned his slaves yes but most likely he was having a hard time to getting by so the white suit is out of the question. i think the plantation owners and the slaves ,when it came to poverty were on the same boat only differnce is that one man is white and one man is black.
Steriotypes have been going on forever and they probably will till the last man walks on earth. i can think of some many steriotypes in my life today. people think because the can see you and see what you look like that they can make assumptions on what you look like in the inside or immediatly assume because you look or live a certain way you have to do the certain things that are associated with that. people atomatically assume that if you look it you are it.

"Goverment is best which governs least"
When Thoreau said "a goverment is best which governs least" I think he meant that a goverment that wasnt so part of the peoples life would govern the best for the people. For instance there are some goverments that are completly involved in its peoples everyday life ,and living style ,and there is some goverments that gives freedom where freedom is needed( to an lovely extent America home of the free).I think that if a goverment is to involved in the peoples life ,I mean down to the core of their being, then that is not a good thing to have.People deserve freedom and privacy. A goverment that is involved but not to a nosey piont is actaully for the people and if the goverment governs less then the people are more of the goverment in the goverment.people are the goverment is what im trying to say. Thats how i see it at least . Basically what im trying to get at is that a goveremnt that that doesnt show its all for the politics and more for the people are usually a more succeessfull goverment.People tend to like the govermnet with freedom more.

Should we change the way we teach younger students about the history of the United States? Explain.
I think we should change the way we teach younger students about the history of the united states because younger students grow up learning one thing that in their mind is right of what happened in history but is actually completly wrong and they dont find out that they are wrong until they get into a higher level of class and find out that all they know isnt exactly true.I think we should not exactly tell younger kids of the killing and uterlly horrible parts of history right of the bat but we shouldnt make them think that our history is what it isnt.I think we should get them use to not every part of history was fine and dandy so they at least know that things other then love and friendship did go on in history. When I was in elementary school I was taught in history that the Pilgrims came to Plymouth and lived a happy and prosperive life with the Native Amercians helping them out and no conflicts were ever incountered and everyone was happy. I was taught that the Natives and the Pilgrims lived happy and had thanksgiving and loved eachother not that the Natives died of diseases because of the Pilgrims, that the Pilgrims wore nice clothes and they had no difficulties in their new land not that they were unprepared for winter and wore nothing near nice clothing. Im an examle of when I was a younger student then I am now being taught the bright, false side of history because I was young.I think young students should know the basic at first and build on what they know not be told a lie and then having to scrap everything they knew growing up in order to learn the real truth when it came time.
Should countries leave pieces of their history out, especially that which is negative, when documenting these stories? Explain.
I dont think countries should leave out pieces of their history especially the negative parts of it ,when documenting the stories of their history.I think this because the truth should be told completly when it comes to documenting history.History to me is what happened in the countries past that made an impact i guess in some sort of way, I dont exactly know the dictionay definition of what history means but thats what it means to me.Where im trying to get at is if history is what happened in a countries past that made some sort of impact on that country then it should contain everything that happened in the event good or bad.A country shouldnt make themselves sound like angels to its people who are reading what happened in that event just because it makes themselves sound better then what they really are.I think the people of the country should know every aspect of what happened because it is the truth. The goverment of the country or whoever wrote that document of what happened that historic day should tell the truth of every major part that happened ,and not cut out the pieces that dont fit into their pretty little nice story that makes them sound like saints. What im basically trying to say is I think its wrong to cut the negative parts out of history to make that country sound good to its people. The people deserve to know the good and bad about its country not what the country wants its people to just know.
